"Has this all happened before?"
Considering that modern humans have been around something like 200,000 years it does make me wonder what they were doing in all that time before the start of 'civilisation', about 10,000 years ago. They were not technically advanced as archaeology shows (although there are some anomalies), but maybe they had other strengths/knowledge that is now lost (or hidden.)
