Thank you Tess, that was a lovely article. Like you, I just despair of modern trash 'entertainment'. I have to confess I didn't really know anything much about Bob Marley, so thanks again for opening my eyes.
'Reggae’s rhythm is similar to that of our own heartbeat and the heartbeat of our mother. It speaks to our hearts, whether our minds hear the lyrics or not.' I love this and love his music even more now! Great article and sadly not surprised at the CIA assassin's conclusion.
I was lucky enough to hear him in concert at the Stanley Theater in Pittsburgh, PA in 1979. I had been superficially introduced to his music by a friend, but the power of seeing him sing in that concert blew me away and made me a permanent fan. I still have the concert t-shirt, replete with the marijuana leaf in back of his portrait. My mom gave me a knowing look one day and casually asked me what kind of leaf it was. “Um ...”
Have loved Bob Marley for a long time and have been listening to him more than ever the past couple of years. His songs are very strengthening and uplifting. You might also enjoy Jimmy Cliff, his songs “Blessed Love” and “World Upside Down” have been some of my favorites.
Omg yes! Such a beautiful soul, a lightworker and peacemaker! I'm not a reggae fan but his music lifts my spirit like no other. It's unbelievably healing. ❤️ Thank you Dr Tess for this article.
Just brilliant he really was & still brings the better out of so, so many. Levi's Aquarian Gospel book inspires us that the Christ is Divine Love flowing through the hearts & minds of the many.
Thank you for sharing Tess. Your work is spreading such greater good 🙏🏽
I like Marley's quote about why his concert went on two days after he was shot. "“The people who were trying to make this world worse are not taking the day off. Why should I?”
That's a pretty good definition of the Medical Freedom Movement.
"Get up. Stand up. Don't give up the Fight!" Thanks. Don't give up the Fight!
I've been playing "Redemption Song" a lot lately, and have been a Bob Marley fan since my teens! Thank you for the documentary recommendation and this whole article! It resonates. BM's spirit, words, energy and music has spoken to so many over the years, it makes sense his words and songs are striking a chord again, now. Lyrics like "Emancipate yourself from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our mind," are timeless!! I'm going to re-read this article and watch the doc. Thank you!
What a beautiful tribute to Bob Marley. I am definitely going to watch the film and thank you Dr Lawrie for somehow managing to bring some joy into a reality that seems polluted and pervaded by corruption if not outright evil.
What a great article, Tess. This was absolutely what I needed to read today. I used to listen to Bob Marley when I needed to pull myself up and move forward. Love it. Never knew this backstory other than bits and pieces. I believe the CIA story and now it makes me think of Freddie Mercury and how Fauxi was involved there. But today I'm going to visualize a positive future. Now I have this movie to look forward to. And all the great music to revisit and breathe new energy into my soul.

This is a wonderful article, one of your best! I love Marley, and growing up in the 70's recall his message of peace of love resonating deeply with me. It still does. Thank you!
I reside in Jamaica so is heartwarming for you to promote Bob Marley, his songs, messages and music has reached all corners of the world despite his very humble beginnings. Unbelievable what you said about the cause of his death. His talented family have followed in his love for music. ❤️
Bless you for this article, Tess. We need to glorify Peace and Unity, which is what Bob Marley did with his music. I got to see him perform on December 13, 1979. Most memorable concert ever for me.

I’ve loved, listened to Marley’s music for years and only recently did I actually pay attention to what he was saying- What a great individual
