The uplifting email I received this week
A reminder that we are not alone, there are many of us on this journey to create a Better Way for the World!
Dear Tess,
I’d like to introduce myself. I am currently a prosthetic technician and have a range of experience with orthotics, prosthetics, orthopaedic footwear and wheelchair and seating. My roles have always been hands on and in past roles I’ve designed and made custom modifications for people with severe disabilities.
I have been in this industry for about 7 years with a break in-between to explore a career in mental health nursing. During the break, I attended Abertay University to study mental health nursing. I found that nursing was far from patient care – rather, it was medication management that was only interested in putting people on compulsory treatment orders or within wards, upping medication to “allow staff to manage the patient load” or “keep the patient safe”.
I was disgusted about the treatment people received and raised concerns throughout university that, in my words, "we are chemically restraining people” and “we are no longer locking people up, we just are drugging them up”.
I have always been an advocate for the person. I believe true holistic care comes from the individual in front of you, no matter the age, race, religion, disability, sex and, one that I feel gets missed out, class.
So, a little more about my journey…
I am a long supporter of the Corbett Report. It was James himself that introduced me to the World Council for Health. During covid I was completely alone. I chose not to get vaccinated and was met with loads of push back from colleagues, friends, and family. I was completely alone until you appeared on The Corbett Report to discuss the Better Way Conference. I knew I had to go, and I wish I could re-live it again and again. It was life changing. I have never had the chance to openly express and discuss my beliefs. This led me to getting as many posters, flyers, and information as I could. Once I came back from the conference I was completely recharged. This is when I received my first pushback from my job, as I used the perspex glass that had been put up by me during covid to litter it with all the information I received. I was made to take the information down, but that hasn’t stopped me printing off all the policy briefs and putting them around the university section of the hospital.
So currently, I am looking to live independently and off grid. This has led me to me requesting to be paid in cash directly. I am in the process of completely closing my bank, this also includes converting a van to stay in. I believe that CBDC is coming and the only way we can really push back is completely stepping away from the banks, as they themselves are a monopoly. I have had my first request denied for getting paid in cash but, after examining the NHS Tayside policies, I believe I have found a loophole. If, however, this doesn’t work, I will continue and close my bank. I will take that as my termination of my contract and move to London. I have a job working for a private firm which has agreed to pay me in cash.
I have lots to learn, many more rabbit holes to go down, but I do believe I am willing to do what it takes. As the song “We are warriors” goes “sometimes we have to sacrifice it all… for a better way”. I am in a well-paid job, with good flexibility and somewhat good conditions. However sometimes we must look at ourselves. Individuals make up the world we are in, yet the individual is under attack.
Thank you, Tess, not only for giving me an opportunity and for the ability to recharge. You, Emma, Mark, Shabnam, Wai-Ching Lee and Christof have all got a place in my heart, as well as everyone behind the scenes. Your hard work has not only helped me but the world itself.
Thank you.
Euan
Dear Euan, on behalf of the WCH Team, thank you so much for sharing the details of your pioneering personal journey (and for allowing me to publish this inspiring letter). It is unbelievably gratifying for us all (those named above and the wider team) to hear how the work of the World Council for Health has helped you. Thank you for returning the favour with this uplifting message! I hope you will consider volunteering with WCH – your insights into the state of mental health nursing sound invaluable to creating a healthy, free and sovereign world where everyone has what they need to thrive. Lots of love, Tess

I believe many people have been lonely the past few years, taking a stand that is not main stream does that. That is why we need more event where people can get to know and support each other.
