Brilliant framing of health sovereignty as a response to technocratic overreach instead of just resistance. The local-to-global conncetion Eddie's making at this conference feels spot on because these patterns really do cut across borders. I tried doing something similar last year with comunity health discussions and found the hardest part was getting people to shift from complaint mode to solution building.
I've always very much admired you and your work, Tess, so I am very shocked that you are promoting an event organised by Eddie Hobbs and which has Tracey O’Mahony and the far-right politician and anti-immigration activist Hermann Kelly on the speaker list. Eddie Hobbs may be popular with fellow anti-Muslim/anti-immigration agitators, but he is certainly not on my list of people who have solutions for Ireland. I won't on here go further into what I personally think about Hobbs, O'Mahony, and Kelly. Suffice to say, for now, that I myself have great admiration for the former Irish president, Michael D. Higgins, and the wonderful current president, Catherine Connolly. I not only firmly disagree with Hobbs and O'Mahony about Higgins and Connolly, though; I find their views about foreigners and Muslims appalling.
Thanks Tess! I so admire what you do as regards health, and vaccine injury in particular. Speakers at that conference denounced immigration and called for a closure of Ireland's borders and Eddie Hobbs is reported to have said that those who want to see a new government in Ireland needed to “reach across the Atlantic” and seek help from the Irish diaspora in the US MAGA movement. :-(
